Executive Functioning Coaching
Executive function is a set of mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. We use these skills every day to learn, work, and manage daily life. Trouble with executive function can make it hard to focus, follow directions, and handle emotions, among other things. Kids that struggle with executive functioning skills have a hard time reaching their full potential. Their poor organization, messy backpacks, forgotten assignments, poor study skills and general feeling of being overwhelmed made day to day life stressful. Kids are stressed as well as their parents and most importantly their grades and work don’t reflect their true ability.
Executive functioning coaching starts with an assessment to identify areas of strength and weakness. Then goals are set and skills are taught to address those areas of weakness. Skills in the areas of time management, working memory, organization, study skills, flexibility and attention are taught, modeled and practiced.
